The union organizing campaign Alliance@IBM has been suspended, according to the group’s website.
The news was also announced to union members in an email Monday.

Organizers cited “years of job cuts and membership losses” which have taken their toll, union representatives said in a post on the group’s Facebook page.

“IBM executive management steamrolled over employees and their families,” the post said. “We tried to push back when we could, but we didn’t have enough people power to change the working conditions or stop the massive job cuts at IBM.”

Combined, the Poughkeepsie and East Fishkill sites had an average of 6,105 people in 2014. The company once employed more than 30,000 in Dutchess and Ulster counties.

The union’s website will not be updated, but it will remain online, according to the group.
